I’m in Vegas, baby!!!!!!!!!

Today’s good deed: CLEAN UP SOMEONE ELSE’S MESS

This deed could mean a plethora of things, especially in Sin City.

I’m in a casino where the locals hang out, that means looser slots and oxygen tanks as far as the eye can see. I wanted to do the good deed SMILE AT A STRANGER, but frankly, I’m a little scared of these folks. Each of my smiles is greeted with the intensity of a Navy Seal on a rescue mission. I have the eerie feeling that if I step too close to someone’s ZZ Top slot machine, I might get singed with a cigarette … on purpose.

Still, I love local casinos. 70’s and 80’s music fills the air, as well as the smell of buffets and lost inheritance.

I’ve started bringing books to casinos. Today’s book: One Good Deed by Erin McGugh. I might as well do some research while I listen to Caribbean Queen.

When I look up from my page-turner, I notice my group is gone. As I’m roaming the casino looking for my gang I notice a waitress with a skirt so short I’m sure she got it from Baby Gap.

Since cocktail waitresses only serve free drinks to people actively gambling, I keep a $20 bill handy to throw into any given slot machine. I usually put my $20 in, get my cocktail, tip my waitress, and take my $20 out when I’m ready to go. Some call it “cheating,” but I call it going “all in” … then taking it all out later. Vegas, baby!!!

This cocktail waitress in her infinitesimal skirt looked super busy, so instead of plopping myself down for a drink, I drink in Whip It by Devo and continue to look for my posse.

An older man looks up from his slot machine. That’s unusual. He smiles at me. Then he winks.

The Willy Wonka extra feature jingle breaks me out of my sugar daddy reverie. Aside from the twinkle in my future ex-husband’s eye, I notice a to-go coffee cup and napkins scattered on the floor. I see the hard-at-work waitress again and decide to do her a favor. I pick up the coffee cup and all the napkins. Sure it was her job, but she could use all the help she could get. And quite frankly, if she bent over to pick up the napkins, she would show everybody her jackpot.

So I literally cleaned up someone’s mess. You may ask, did I get myself into other “messes” in Vegas? Did the flirty old man and I make a mess of our own? I’ll never tell. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, baby!!!
